Strong recovery! Brazil’s iron ore exports rose 28%, to China by 103% in April

Brazil’s exports of iron ore in April were 24 million tons, up 28 percent from a year earlier, the first positive year-on-year increase, according to the latest (customs) data released by the Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade (mdic); exports in the first four months were 93.78 million tons, down 9 percent from a year earlier

 Of these, exports to China in April were 16.393 million tons, an increase of 103 percent over the same period last year ,24 percent higher than the 13.263 million tons in April 2018; exports in the first four months were 60.7 million tons, an increase of 10 percent over the same period last year, and only 3.5 percent lower than the 62.91 million tons in the first four months of 2018

 In addition, exports to Japan amounted to 1.41 million tons in April ,1.26 million tons in March and 1.086 million tons in April last year ;1.554 million tons to Malaysia in April ,763,000 tons in March and 2.736 million tons last April ;1.08 million tons to the European Union in April ,1.95 million tons in March and 2.45 million tons last April; and 878000 tons to South Korea in April ,1.005 million tons in March and 0.3 tons last April

 Vale (vale), brazil’s largest iron ore producer, cut its guiding production from 340 million ~355 million tons to 310 million ~330 million tons announced in february last month, while its guiding production from pellets ranged from 44 million tons to 35 million ~40 million tons. Downgrades ore production will continue to increase by 2.7~9.3 percent, or 8.03 million ~28.03 million tons, compared with last year, as output in the first quarter is sharply reduced, and the next three quarters will be larger than the annual increase after the down-regulation

 Under the new guiding output, the output of powder ore in the second ~ fourth quarter of this year was 250.4 million ~270.4 million tons ,21.3 million ~41.3 million tons higher than the output of 229.1 million tons in the same period last year, an increase of 9.3 percent and 18 percent

 With the exception of Vale, Brazil’s National Black Metallurgy Corporation (csn) and Anglo-American Resources (with minas-rio iron ore projects in Brazil) are Brazil’s leading iron ore producers, with exports of 38.545 million tons and 64.901 million tons in 2019(22.92 million tons in Brazil and 41.97 million tons in South Africa)
